Fresh x Universal Works: Wool Fleece Cardigan

For AW21 Universal Works have partnered with long-standing friends and Italian stockist, Fresh Torino.
Having stocked the brand in their store since 2016, Fresh Torino have worked alongside the Universal Works team to create a one-off collaborative piece, based on a Universal Works classic layering item, the Wool Fleece Cardigan. The end result perfectly combines the style and aesthetic of the two collaborators blending Italian sportswear with British workwear.

“It’s a real pleasure to collaborate with people who have so much passion for what they do and it’s been great to get to know Giulio and his love for clothing over all these years. It’s a collaboration that we did not quite plan, it came organically from endless chats in Florence and conversations about what we like. In the years Giulio has become a friend more than he is a customer and we are very excited to have done this with him. We hope you like it!” David Keyte - Co-Founder, Universal Works.

The style is reworked with a unique colour blocked three-tone marron/olive/navy design and signature "buttonhole" that is the well known feature of another Universal Works classic, the Bakers Jacket.

Fresh Store was founded in Turin, Italy in November 2007 and is the brain child of Giulio Carbone, and Alessio Massa, they are driven by their passion to offer unique high quality items from independent brands that are not typically found on the highstreet.

“We absolutely love the Universal Works Wool Fleece. It’s warm, comfortable, soft and looks great. Our favourite is the cardigan version so, when we started talking about a collaboration with David, we knew this was the direction we wanted to go in. A wool fleece colour block cardigan with a Fresh touch, a special version mixing 3 of our favourite colours. The classic navy and light olive contrasted with the deep red, tones that speak of Torino and its beauty. The result: a colourful version of a Universal Works classic , reflecting the ideas that have been defining Fresh Torino for all these years.” Giulio Carbone, co-owner and buyer of Fresh Store.
