KARHU Fusion XC Abbey Stone Gunmetal
Born in Finland, Karhu has long celebrated a rich history rooted in love and admiration for the outdoors.
As early as the 1930s, Karhu products such as hiking shoes, backpacks, tents, canoes, and paddles were prominently featured in Finnish sporting goods catalogues. This same adventurous spirit of yesteryear still guides Karhu design process to this day as the brand-new Fusion XC looks to carry on Karhu’s proud outdoor legacy.
The Fusion XC combines a unique retro aesthetic with efficient modern functionality. Inspired by several shoes from Karhu’s history, this new Fusion features a taped M-logo reminiscent of the 1996 Fusion AP. The outsole utilizes an updated version of our signature T-profile lug pattern that was used on many Karhu shoes from the previous century, including the iconic Synchron Classic.
In addition to these historic design nods, the Fusion XC is equipped with the same modern Fulcrum
technology found in every current model from our running collection. The Fulcrum functions like a cradle, or a rocker, that keeps all forces moving forward, reducing pressure on the heel and using the body’s natural energy to create a smooth, guided ride.
The Fusion XC also features a plush Air Cushion midsole, a Karhu innovation from the 70s that has since been adopted by other industry giants. Further technical features include a toe bumper for added protection and a fully gusseted tongue to keep out dust and dirt.
The Fusion XC is offered in three outdoor- inspired colourways.
Aztec / Jet Black invokes the palette of
the 1996 Karhu Apache and utilizes HydroGuard®, a breathable, waterproof membrane designed to keep your feet cool and dry.
Gunmetal / Jet Black also features HydroGuard®.
For increased comfort on milder days, the Abbey Stone / Gunmetal colourway instead uses nylon mesh with suede overlays.
For a correct choice, Fusion XC has the same size of the Karhu Legacy and half size smaller compared to a Fusion 2.0.
